The Chancellor at the Werth TomoScope®
As part of an educational trip, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the former Minister-President of Bavaria, Günther Beckstein, visited the technical college in Deggendorf. There they were shown the Werth TomoScope multisensor coordinate measuring machine with computer tomography sensor. This machine was made available at the technical college for research and instructional purposes in cooperation between the technical college of Deggendorf, the Intercontec company of Niederwinkling, and Werth Messtechnick GmbH in Giessen. The chancellor was impressed by the modern technology that allows measurement of production parts at previously unheard of speed and measurement point density. Holding a doctorate in physics, the German Chancellor was also naturally interested in the technical details of the machine.

The Werth TomoScope® HV three-coordinate measuring machine can accept components up to 40 kg, with a size of 350 mm in diameter and 500 mm in length. It has a high resolution X-ray sensor with 2,000 x 2,000 pixels. With a maximum X-ray voltage of 225 kV, the machine is also suitable for measuring high density components, such as aluminum, steel, titanium, composite materials, ceramics, and glass-reinforced plastics.
