Tooth form cutters are characterised by large diameters and a large number of cutting edges – often greater than 10 –. The most important geometrical characteristics are diameter, axial circular run-out radial as well as the profile shape of the cutting edge. Tolerances of 2 µm to 20 µm lead to high to very high demands on the measurement uncertainty. The measuring time plays a subordinate role.
