The production process is often subject to FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) regulations. The measuring task consists of determining strut widths, radii, angles and material thickness as well as defect detection. Due to the low tolerances of a few micrometres, the requirements for measurement uncertainty are high. For stents, a 100 % inspection is necessary, resulting in very high measurement time requirements.
