Spherical or aspherical lenses are used for mobile phones, car headlights or lighting optics. The profile, the position of the lenses in relation to the mount and possibly coatings on the lens must be measured. The demands on the measurement uncertainty for imaging optics are very high, the tolerances are in the range of 5 µm to 20 µm. The measuring time plays a subordinate role. Due to the small size of the lenses, taking them in for measurement is a great challenge.
