When using the aperture, only a part of the workpiece is irradiated in raster mode, thus reducing the scattered beam component. The corresponding detector area is set automatically. Alternatively, the height of the active detector area can be adjusted and a line sensor function can be realised with the area detector. Restricting the detector area also leads to a reduction of cone beam artefacts.
