Werth Messtechnik Schweiz GmbH was founded to expand sales and service activities in the Swiss market. The new company headquarters are located in Gersau.

The multi-sensor CFZ combines a telecentric 10x zoom optic with a powerful distance sensor in one beam path (patent).

High-performance sensors make it possible to dispense with mechanical device axes and create a low-cost machine with X-ray computed tomography for use close to and integrated into production.

The advantages of the TomoScope® XS, low measuring time, high resolution and low operating costs, are now also available for larger workpieces with a smaller device size.

The Werth TomoScope® FQ machines have a greatly increased measuring speed as well as a new evaluation concept and are therefore also suitable for integration into production lines.

A new logistics centre is put into operation, which takes into account the increased requirements for the dispatch of the high-precision measuring machines of the TomoScope®, VideoCheck® and ScopeCheck® series. The space thus gained is urgently needed for the production of the TomoScope® XS machines.

With two or three separate sensor axes, the multi-sensor systems can now be used even more flexibly. Mutual restriction in the use of sensors is a thing of the past.

With the foundation of Werth Messtechnik Austria, an important step is taken to further optimise customer support. The subsidiary takes care of all concerns in the Departments of Sales, Service and Application. Today, Werth Messtechnik Austria has a demonstration centre in Vienna.

This compact and inexpensive TomoScope® offers the advantages of proven technology in XS format. The X-Ray tube in monoblock design with transmission target combines approximately five times faster measurement compared to conventional systems with low maintenance costs.

The number of employees, which has risen to about 300, and the continuously increasing turnover are taken into account by another new building. All offices and machine assembly halls are now air-conditioned as well.

During the movement of the device axes, many images of the measuring object are taken and assembled into one large overall image with the highest resolution (patent). Then, for example, the ToleranceFit® software can be used to compare the entire object to the CAD or to determine the geometrical characteristics.

Werth Italia S.r.l., conveniently located in the south of Milan, now directly provides support and service for the Italian market. The team on location is a competent contact for all questions regarding Werth products and services.

The probe head with Werth Multisensor System WMS40 allows the combination of several tactile and optical sensor principles.

The DAkkS laboratory (German Accreditation Body) of Werth Messtechnik GmbH is accredited as the first and until 2018 only facility of its kind for the calibration of coordinate measuring machines with X-ray tomography sensors.

Due to the further increase in staff numbers and turnover, an extension is once again necessary.

Werth Metrology Ltd is established with headquarters in Rugby. in 2018, the company opens a new demonstration centre in Derby, north-east of Birmingham. Werth Metrology offers advice and services for all Werth products.

The X-Ray tubes of the largest Werth coordinate measuring machine with computed tomography have a maximum tube voltage of 450 kV.

In Hungary, Werth Magyarorszag Kft. starts sales and service activities for Werth machines in cooperation with Tamas Csontos. Mr Csontos had previously worked as a product manager for many years, gaining experience with Werth multisensor coordinate measuring machines.

The representative office was followed in 2013 by the establishment of Werth Metrology Shanghai Co. Ltd. which offers on-site demonstration and servicing to the steadily growing number of Chinese customers. The new headquarters of Suzhou Werth Metrology Ltd. has been located in the Nanopolis high-tech park in Suzhou since 2015.

Werth Messtechnik GmbH and mt microtool GmbH merge their activities in tool metrology into Werth Tool MT GmbH. As a specialist in the measurement of cutting tools, Werth now offers users the perfect combination of highly accurate and universal instrument technology coupled with over 25 years of experience in the Department of Tool Measurement.

The number of employees, which has risen to over 200, and the turnover, which has increased many times over, are accommodated by new rooms.

The 3D version of the proven micro-probe is realised by a combination of laser distance and image processing sensor with the fibre probe principle.

With the TomoScope® L, the compromise between high X-ray voltage up to 240 kV and smaller device dimensions is achieved.

Computed tomography coordinate metrology with the highest resolution and accuracy is now available for large and harder-to-radiate parts.

The machine uses ScopeCheck® technology with integrated rotary axis for vertical pick-up and measurement of rotationally symmetrical parts.

The first German DKD calibration laboratory accredited according to ISO 17025 (Deutscher Kalibrierdienst – today DAkkS-Labor) for optical and multi-sensor coordinate measuring machines is located at Werth.

The Sales and Service Centre for the USA is opened in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. By 2020, several regional service centres will be established in the USA.

The 2D scanner for precise measurement of 2D workpieces (patent) is based on components of coordinate metrology. The design of the optical beam path allows fast measurement without focusing, as with the traditional desk projector (in the image a larger version of the prototype at that time).

Through intelligent algorithms in the software, the geometry elements to be measured are automatically recognised, a milestone in simple operation (patent).

The unique incident light illumination (patent), in combination with the Werth Zoom, allows a particularly high-contrast image of workpieces. Reliable measurement results even under difficult conditions are the benefit.

The ToleranceFit® software for automatic contour comparison is extended with a new patented function for automatic gauging using the tolerance zones.

For the first time in optical coordinate metrology, both magnification and working distance can be adjusted automatically. The patented Werth zoom optics creates a flexible solution for optical measuring tasks and remains a Werth special feature to this day.

The world's fastest multi-sensor coordinate measuring machine for highly accurate tool measurement is also based on linear drives, image processing and Werth fiber probes®.

In cooperation with the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), the smallest and for many applications most accurate micro-probe for coordinate measuring machines is developed (patent) and forms the basis for Werth's special expertise also in the measurement of micro-geometries. The modern Werth Fiber Probe® is probably the most widely used micro-probe in the world.

The first representative of the successful ScopeCheck® series (in the image the modern Succession) is tailored to the requirements of production-related metrology. Robust mechanical guideways and the powerful Werth sensors provide reliable measurement results.

The opening of the new demonstration and training centre adapts capacity to the increased variety of equipment and number of demonstrations and training sessions for customers.

The WinWerth®-integrated offline programming, at that time still based on 2D CAD data, allows programming before production of the first workpieces with the same software as teach-in at the measuring machine. With the WinWerth® CAD-Online® function, the measuring machines can be controlled directly with CAD data for the first time.

Linear drives and OnTheFly technology enable the world's fastest coordinate measuring machine (in the image, the modern Succession to the prototype of the time).

As the first company abroad, Werth Messtechnik France SARL is founded. The company is based in the south of Paris and coordinates the Sales and Service activities.

The Werth Laser Probe integrated into the image processing beam path enables fast and accurate surface scanning for contour and flatness measurements.

During the economic crisis of 1992/93, the then head of development of the company, Dr.-Ing. habil. Ralf Christoph, took over the majority of the shares and continued to run the company with an initial staff of 40 under the traditional name Werth.

The compact coordinate measuring machine with PC-based image processing and the Windows operating system with a graphic user interface is groundbreaking for the industry (here the modern succession of the prototype at that time). Multi-sensor coordinate metrology becomes affordable and easier to use.

Automatic contour matching software combined with optical contour scanning creates the modern Succession of the profile projector.

The first multisensor coordinate measuring machine is equipped with a laser distance sensor integrated in a telecentric two-stage zoom for image processing. Fully automatic three-dimensional measurement of workpieces is now possible with optical sensors.

The 2D CAD software HP ME10 forms the basis for offline programming of measuring projectors with the Werth Tastauge optoelectronic sensor. The programs are transferred to the control code of the machines with the help of a post-processor.

Due to serious illness, Dr Werth sells the company to the Giessen-based Schunk Group. The company's new name is now Schunk-Werth metrology GmbH.

The first CNC projector enables fully automatic optical measurement of workpieces with micrometre accuracy.

Shortly after the 2nd World War, mechanical engineer Dr.-Ing. Siegfried Werth founds a company in Düsseldorf for the development and manufacture of measuring machines. The first products are geared towards applications in the wire industry.
