Glossary F

Terms related to coordinate metrology with optics, stylus, computed tomography and multi-sensor systems

Feather Probe

Fiber probe

Micro-probes with a glass ball that is positioned over a glass fibre and whose position is measured optically on contact with the workpiece. They therefore have a low probing force and high accuracy.

Fibre Orientation

Fibre Probe

Focus variation method

Focus variation sensor

With the image processing sensor hardware, images are captured in different positions on the optical axis. Based on the contrast gradient, the position of the workpiece surface is determined.
